Who Has Parental Rights In A Divorce and Visitation Rights For Fathers

When someone gets a divorce and there are children involved, the judge, normally decides who gets custody. Then the judge also decides who has parental rights, but I beleive that should be shared. Both parents need decide what school the kids go to and any major decisions to be made. There is a legal group that is helping fathers and to get more visitation rights for fathers. I think if the kids want to see their dad then they should be able to anytime they want, not just when the judge says so. The kids have already been through enough of a trauma when their parents seperate, that they dont need to go through more. My son just went through a divorce and my grandson still shows the scars. His mother takes her anger out on my grandson meant for his dad and thats just so not right, but it happens. If the judge is smart, he wouldnt decide who has parental rights and let a mediator help the parents make joint decisions regarding their child. Why cant the father see his kids anytime he wants to instead of having visitation rights for fathers. In any divorce, the kids are the ones that get hurt the most, and pay the emotional price. My grandson had to be put on medication because he went through so much trauma during his parents divorce. I cant see why any parent would do this to their children. They are divorcing each other and not their kids, but it never turns out that way. It causes turmoil in the whole family, including the grandparents. I guess there is no such thing as a happy and a nice divorce, for anyone.
