Ways I’ve Enjoyed Hot Summer Days on the East Coast of the United States
May 16, 2010 on 4:12 am | By admin | In Recreation and Sports | Comments OffI’ve lived in several different cities in the East Coast of the United States for many years and many summers. While I’ve noticed a lot of people prefer to travel off to cooler locations or seem to spend all summer long in air conditioned movie theaters, I prefer to be right out in the heat of it all.
I’ve found many places are the most enjoyable during hot summer days. One of my favorite memories of Boston was on an extremely hot summer day. After taking a long stroll around the local neighborhoods in the heat and browsing the Borders Books for a moment of air conditioning to cool down, I made my way to the South End neighborhood. There I enjoyed amazing ice cream to cool me down from the restaurant Picco. In that moment, it was the best ice cream I’d tasted.
I then met with friends for an amazing show at the Calderwood Pavilion. We ended up staying up past midnight, walking and enjoying the summer breeze and people watching. In Washington, D.C. some of the tourist attractions are best during the summer.
Sometimes I’ve just up sticks and moved out of the city into the countryside to do a spot of carp fishing, with my carp fishing rods and carp fishing tackle.
I’ve loved walking in the National Mall and stopping to sprawl out in the grass along the reflecting pool to soak up the feel of the sun. It’s amazing how a place full of crowds and statues can also bring you closer to nature in the summer. It really makes you feel the Earth beneath and around you, especially if you’re willing to get a bit of dirt on you in the grass. I’ve found that when living in the middle of the city, it is worth more than a little sweat to explore the parks. You feel like you’re young, carefree and on summer vacation again. We have a climate of very extreme winters and very extreme summers. Knowing that the cold of our winters are coming, I find it essential to enjoy every hot summer day and night.
