Outdoor Team Building for Effective Employees
January 16, 2010 on 7:08 pm | By admin | In Sports | Comments OffLeadership and team training is no longer comprised of cramming a bunch of people in a room and forcing them to do boring mixer games to teach working as team. A company can plan outdoor team building activities to teach employees how to work as a team in a fun and exciting environment. The end result of an outdoor team building challenge should show the employee how teamwork and communication can be a benefit to their job.
A successful outdoor team building session is one where all employees are willing to participate and learn from the experience. The training session should include activities that improve communication, reduce conflicts and frustration, build teams that are productive, and create effective managers and employee relations. After the outdoor team building session the company should benefit from increased profits; both from an increase in employee work ethics and an increase in employee production.
Popular outdoor team building events include car building with a race, ropes course, treasure hunts and Olympic style games. The teams are created at random so teammates are forced to work with people they may not know well. The car building event challenges the team to build a pedal or push style car and race it at the end of the challenge. A ropes course event is an outdoor obstacle course that challenges the team to work together to assist each member to through the course. Treasure hunt events challenge team members to work together to locate and decipher clues which will lead them to the end treasure. An Olympic style game event requires the team to compete in relay style and/or timed events. The events can be real Olympic events or fun events like scooter or desk chair relays. The company has the option to choose a winning team at the end of the outdoor team building event or use the event as a learning experience where every team that finishes is considered a winning team.
The outdoor team building events will challenge each employee to perform at their highest level as a method of learning from the experience they are undergoing. Working together as a team should build a sense of inspiration and energize the employee into wanting to excel at their current employment position.
