Insurance for the disabled
January 11, 2012 on 5:22 am | By admin | In Uncategorized | Comments OffMy dad was forced to retire when I was just a teen. It really had a huge impact on our family.
We had a decent medical insurance policy through my mother’s job, but her salary was pretty low compared to what my dad used to make.
However she was eventually laid off. This meant that dad needed to get insurance throught the government. Fortunately the federal government provided Medicare coverage and dad was able to get a supplemental plan. He was able to find Alabama medigap insurance even though he was barely 50.
We made it through. My dad is still disabled, but he and mom helped my sister and me get a good start in life. He and mom took good care of us. They gave us good advice and guidance. Money isn’t everything.
Sis and I are able to help our parents financially now. Fortunately both of our spouses understand and support us in our desire to help our parents.
